At the Hope Center, we teach and encourage acceptable behaviors. Children with autism can have difficulties with communicating their wants and needs. They might kick and scream to get what they want. This is a behavior we to work to change. By teaching students proper communication tools, the students have new, more acceptable options than throwing a tantrum in frustration. Communication can be difficult for a child with autism, and some of our students are still working on using words. However, body language such as pointing and nodding heads can be a good transition.
